The rumors started with a tweet from BillsyLiamGTA, a well-known figure in the GTA community. According to BillsyLiamGTA, based on information from two different Rockstar Games offices, the release date for GTA 6 had been pushed to 2026.
In his tweet, he stated: “EXCLUSIVE: GTA VI has been definitively delayed by Rockstar Games, with the release window set for early or mid-2026.”
However, these rumors were quickly addressed by Bloomberg writer Jason Schreier. Schreier, who has previously shared accurate information about GTA VI‘s setting, story details, and trailer announcement, is considered a reliable source in the industry.
Schreier responded by saying that he spoke with six Rockstar employees, none of whom were aware of any delay. He added, “Over the weekend, rumors about GTA VI being delayed exploded online (and in my inbox). The good news is that six Rockstar employees told me they haven’t heard of any delay. The bad news is the game is huge and ambitious, so a delay is still possible!”
